Match report Another exciting win following a full team effort.On an overcast afternoon and despite only have 10 men until Pilch could turn up, the consensus was to bowl first having won the toss. The pitch looked green and good for bowling which proved to be the case as Nad and debutant James provided lively opening spells picking up a wicket each and deserving a few more. Then our first change bowlers,George and Johnny, came on and ripped through the remainder of the Takeley line up. George bowled beautifully moving the ball in the air and off the pitch, finishing with figures of 4-19 and proving too much for their batsman. At the other end, Johnny also bowled some great deliveries, picking up 4 wickets of his own-including their opener on 50 thanks to a wonderful catch by Ben at deep mid-on.
Needing 115 to win, Alistair and Tom saw off the first 40 runs before a couple of quick wickets made the game interesting. However, a classy knock from Tom mixing some great defence with some ferocious hitting and some useful hard hitting from Adrian and Pilch allowed us to eventually get over the line, Nad (" the Finisher ") hitting a six to win the match. A great team effort and hats off to the bowlers for an outstanding display. Special thanks to Welly, not only for the teas but for being brave(and foolish!) enough to stand in as wicket keeper. This win means we have moved to the stop of the league so plenty to play for next week.
