Match was Tied

Match report HR won the toss again and decided to bat. The wicket played a bit two paced and runs were hard to come by. Molly was yet again the star of the show with a fine 81, supported by Jeff who made a well crafted 48. A quick fire 29 by debutante George Halls helped us to a competitive total of 199.
Nad took a wicket with his first ball as Rayleigh started slowly. A fine opening spell from Crossy kept the pressure on and despite not taking wickets the run rate was creeping up. George bowled a top spell of 10 overs off the spin, taking 2 for 35, capping a marvellous all round performance with a run out. With 10 overs left the required rate was around 5 an over and we did well to keep in the hunt. The game came down to Rayleigh needing 7 to win off the last over and despite Freddie's best efforts we couldn't quite manage to contain them and we ended up with a tie. A great game played in a fantastic spirit and despite not getting over the line for a first win of the season we are not far away!
A special mention to Nad this week who only bowled 5 overs due to the circumstances of the match and didn't bat. However he umpired and then scored the whole of our innings! His help is much appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed.
