High Roding 2nd XI arrived at Ardeley Walkern CC full of confidence after three wins on the bounce and on top of the league table.

After losing the toss, the opposition team decided to bat on a grassy wicket, that has probably seen better days.

High Roding’s opening pair started the game well and took early wickets with Nad (9-0-29-2) and Jamie (8-0-38-0).

Once again Clare bowled really well (9-1-30-1) and well supported by Guy (8-0-50-0). Admittedly their lower order batsmen proved to be the best of the bunch by scoring well over 70 runs for the last two wickets and finished the innings 189 for 6 at the end of 40 overs.

In response, High Roding’s formidable opening pair started the game well, but quick wickets followed with Richard (17), Tahir (2), Harry (8) and Will (0) putting High Roding on back foot and a mountain to climb.

Tom (64) as usual, kept on batting and kept up with the run chase with Freddie (11), with 62 runs to get from the last 10 overs Tom was caught brilliantly at gully. After losing Jamie (6), Nad (15 NO) and Clare (15) batted well and were within 29 runs off 36 balls. However, their opening bowler returned with a three wicket over, where he took Clare, Guy and then Ben in a space on 4 balls to win the game.
