Match report Last game the season, High Roding’s 2nd XI arrived with the aim of securing one last win to finish third in the league.

After losing the toss, HR was asked to field.

HR’s bowlers once again bowled well and didn’t give opposition batsmen an easy task to score runs. Clare bowled superbly (9-4-17-0) and was unlucky not to take a wicket against her name. But, 17 runs off 9 overs ensured that Sawbridgeworth’s was restricted to 163 runs, off their 40 overs.

In response, Friddie (23) in particular, started the innings well with some lovely boundaries early on, in the innings and yet again Tahir (67 NO) and Clare (28 NO) ensured a comfortable 5 wickets win and finishing third in the league.

Especial mention goes to Adrian Nelson, who bowled superbly as well Graeme and Amit, for their stellar opening bowling spell.

As we now we have reached the end of yet another enjoyable season, there are lot of positives to take away especially the way the team conducted themselves during the season.

In line with HR’s ethos, we have ensured that we; 1) respect the game by always respecting umpires’ decisions and opposition players, 2) all players get a chance to get involve in the game on the day with either batting, bowling or competitive field positions, 3) colts in the team get a good game, and 4) finally and most importantly enjoying the game of cricket, regardless whether we win or lose!

So, a great season, and thank you for everyone participated.

Finally, as Tom always says at the end of the day, Cricket is the winner and there are no losers!
