Match report A tight season-opener saw HR emerge victorious. Lost toss as ever from Sam and we were put in to bat.

A dogged opening stand of 59 was broken when Alex got an absolute seed that swung from outside leg to take the top of off. Jeff and Henry dug deep and continued to build a platform. Jeff carried on where he left off last season with 54, and Henry followed up his 81 in the cup with a composed 32. Wickets started to fall as we looked to push the run rate. Freddie D (55) was the star of the show, reaching his maiden 1st XI half-century in just 35 balls. While we continued to press, we couldn't quite reach the last batting point, finishing on 223-8.

Archie struck in the second over of the Epping innings. Foresters consolidated and looked to give themselves a platform from which to build. The spin trio of Jeff (2-29), Sam (2-43) and Josh (1-36) all made timely breakthroughs as Epping’s chase gained momentum, with Epping's Hazelton taking advantage of three dropped catches to target the short boundary and top-score with 64, before falling to a catch in the deep from the returning Archie (2-28).

As the innings drew to a close and the required run-rate crept up, Roding shut down the scoring opportunities, and Freddie Burns limited Foresters to 4 from the final over to close out an 11-run win.
