High Roding Cricket Club News story

Ladies and Girls Cricket at HRCC this summer

05 Mar 2021

Dear Members

As some of you may know, for the last two summers, the HRCC Ladies team has been training on a Thursday evening from 6pm.   These training sessions have been all about fun whilst getting fitter and learning new skills as well as picking up some understanding of the complexities of the Laws of the game!  We now have a small group of Ladies who are building their softball skills and also hope to start playing some hard ball matches this season.  We'd love new players of all abilities and ages (U15 +) to join us this summer.  A number of older girls are already an integral part of our Ladies team.  We plan to play a range of softball & hardball terrier style fixtures to enable everyone to take part in a game. Your first three sessions will be free so come on down and give it a try. Thereafter, there will be a small 'Pay as you Play charge' or annual subscription payable.

HRCC Colts have produced several outstanding female cricketers in recent years.  This winter a record seven girls U11/U13 were selected for Essex junior performance training.  Several other girls also played brilliantly but sadly just missed out for final selection.  Consequently, the Club are keen to develop our Girls players and have arranged for an U11/U13 girls only coaching session to take place at the same time (different coaching group) as the Ladies on Thursday evenings.   Although some of our girls are experienced; new players are very much encouraged to come and try the sport. The coaching will encourage every girl to learn and have lots of fun.  Essex Cricket are very supportive of this development and hope (Covid permitting) to send coaches down for specialist sessions.  Coaching for the younger girls U8/10s will currently remain within their age group on the (mixed) Colts evening.  In this way, we hope to provide a pathway for girls to develop their cricket at all ages as well as providing a fun team training environment.

All Colts (including Girls) registration should be emailed through to SALLYHOLT55@HOTMAIL.COM

So please let your friends and families know about these Ladies & Girls sessions.  We'd love to see them.   Looking forward to seeing you down at our beautiful ground soon...
