Potter Street v High Roding Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 11 Aug 2012 at 13:30
High Roding Cricket Club Lost By 6 wickets
Match report
Man of the Match - Stephen Heywood - excellent bowling (6-1-11-2).
Play of the Day - John Brody - well held catch at 2nd slip.
9 man High Roding visited Potter Street at the height of the summer holidays. Whilst half of our regular side were sunning themselves on the beaches of Europe or had 'something better to do' Potter Street won the toss and asked the visitors to bat on a pitch that offered lateral movement and unpredictable bounce. Potter Street's bowlers took full advantage of the difficult batting conditions to bowl out High Roding for 82 runs in 25 overs. Only skipper Richard Pilcher, scoring 23 runs in 17 overs, was able to bat with any confidence as wickets fell at regular intervals and partnerships were hard to establish. Highlights of the innings was a huge 6 over long on hit by Mark Heywood and Harry Pilcher's cover drive to get off the mark.
High Roding bowled economically and with generally tight lines making Potter Street work hard, but with a small total to defend this was a tough game to win. The home side reached their target off 24.5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
Stephen bowled aggressively and beat the bat on several occasions. The highlight of the innings was an outside edge of his bowling giving a well held catch at second slip by debutant John Brody.
