High Roding Cricket Club Lost By 3 wickets

Match report High Roding lost the toss and unsurprisingly were asked to bat. Despite losing Molly early, things were looking good at 52 for 1. However the wicket was always tricky and no one ever managed to really dominate. Jeff 24, Gilf 20, Andy 18 and Pilch 16 all got in but unfortunately failed to get the big score we needed. 118 was under par but we still felt in the game at tea.
3 early wickets kept us in the hunt but their number 4 with 55 played the innings of the day. Despite Kit's 3 for 20 and Rory's 2 for 28 we couldn't quite get the win.
A special mention today to Rory Burns. I would like to thank him for his dedication to High Roding over many years. Today he played his last game before he heads for pastures new. He has obviously been a stalwart for the club and a hugely talented cricketer but more than that he is a thoroughly decent young man and it's been an absolute pleasure to play with him over the last few years. We all wish him well for the future
