Match report
Match report by Nad K…
High Roding lost the toss and was asked to field, on lovely sunny day at Gt Canfield CC.
Nad (8 - 22 -2) and George (9 -20 -2) started a very good spell of opening bowling followed by an excellent spell yet again from Clare (7 -16 – 0) and Freddy Dutton (5 -13- 1). This resulted in Sawbridgeworth struggling to score runs and losing wickets on regular basis before Amit (7.4 – 31 -4) cleaned up their lower order, for 134 all out, just under 39 overs.
In response, High Roding’s promising young opening pair, Will and Freddie armed with extensive batting advice from Welly, looked set for the long haul. Unfortunately, the confidence was short lived, with both openers losing their wickets in the 3rd and 5th over respectively, followed by Harry W (20), Freddy Dutton (2) and Adrian Nelson (2), leaving High Roding 55 for 5, on the 14th over.
Another great innings by Tahir (61 Not Out), and another player-of-the-match performance by Clare (35 Not Out) batted extremely well to reach the target in the 31st over, to mark yet another win for the High Roding’s 2nd XI.
A lovely sunny day of cricket coupled with Amit’s first HR teas, was marred by some unsportsmanlike behaviour from the opposition team at the end of the game.
A lot of positives to take away from this win and pleasing to see our young cricketers playing and enjoying the game. HR is currently joint top of the league table (together with Three Caps) at this half way point. So, a great effort from everyone.
