High Roding Cricket Club Lost by 69 runs

Match report Cricket can be a brutal sport and the match against Takely 2nd XI was unfortunately one of those days.

However, when you are delivered such a thumping with Takely scoring over 330 off 40 overs, the key is how we stayed as a team in the field and how good we are at finding balls over the fence.

I am thrilled to say that in both areas High Roding was first class! Playing with 8 colts and 3 adults against a team of grizzly over 25 year olds who, for want of a better description, had brutal hitting capabilities but NOT out of the coaching manual, it was very hard!

The kids did brilliantly and we maintained our team spirit and humour while bowling figures were being destroyed. We live to see another day and there will be better days in the field.

A big shout out to William Smith & Ollie Hart who bowled brilliantly at the top of the innings and equally some of the fielding was exceptional.

Batting, of course we didn't get there but we had some amazing knocks that enabled us to score our highest total in the season! A big mention to again the Harts boys and the Welland family (Dad Paul and sons, Henry and George ) who played brilliantly.

Paul has been working hard to bring 2 fine young cricketers into High Roding and is doing a brilliant Job! The only issue is that he couldn't give us a further 7 or 8! Is there still time? Sally might have something to say about that!

And on the family note, The Smiths are equally providing excellent young cricketers and we ask again to get back on the horse and perhaps a further 3 boys might be a sensational dedication to the High Roding club for the future.

Onwards and upwards people. There will be better days!
